Pittsburgh Steelers linked with bombshell trade (2025)

The Steelers are listening to trade offers for one of their top offensive talents as the NFL Draft approaches on Thursday night.

According to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, Pittsburgh has engaged in conversations regarding wide receiver George Pickens, who's averaged 947 yards per season since entering the NFL in 2022.

While Pittsburgh is not 'actively shopping' Pickens, according to Schultz, multiple teams have brought up his name in talks - which the Steelers apparently have not shot down.

Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

Despite a promising first three seasons from Pickens, the receiver has had discipline issues at times as he's been fined for taunting and unsportsmanlike conduct on multiple occasions.

The reported trade talks around him come as quarterback Aaron Rodgers- who has met with the Steelers this offseason - continues to take his time deciding on his NFL future.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show last week, the NFL veteran admitted to having worked out with the Steelers and revealed he hasn't closed off a path to Pittsburgh.

More than two months have now passed since the Jets announced they were moving on from him.

'This entire time, I haven't felt like I owed anybody a decision at any point,' Rodgers insisted.

'I've said listen, if you need to move on and do something, love and respect. But there's been no deadline. I've talked to Mike T [Tomlin] many times.'

Beyond Rodgers, the Steelers currently have Mason Rudolph as the QB1 on their depth chart, and could also look to add a quarterback in Thursday's Draft.

Pittsburgh holds the No. 21 pick, which some believe they could use to draft Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart.

Nonetheless, after the Giants moved on from Rodgers by signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston - with the Vikings seemingly committed to J.J. McCarthy as well - the Steelers look the best bet for the passer, 41, to be an opening day starter next season.

'I told every single one of the teams, it ain't about the money. I said I'll play for $10million. Whatever,' he told McAfee.

'I'm open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility. Focus on personal life.'

Others have taken his non-committal tone as a sign he's done playing, as former Jets and Dolphins exec Mike Tannenbaum said he was already retired.

'This is a guy that's disinterested in being an NFL quarterback, which is fine,' Tannenbaum said on First Take.

' He's earned that right. He's made hundreds of millions of dollars. It's over.'
